| WCED - A Joint Powers Organization |
| The West Central Education District is made up of four school districts. The districts of Albany, Melrose, Paynesville, and Sauk Centre have entered into a joint powers agreement for the purpose of managing low incidence special education services and providing educational opportunities to at-risk students. In addition, management of the Perkins Vocational grant is handeled by the WCED, as well as shared staff dvelopment opportunities for teachers and staff.
Previous to becoming an Education District, the joint powers organization was known as the Dairyland Special Education Cooperative.
